They’d come so close in the past, but now Astralis can finally claim a CS:GO Major championship win. The Danish team (Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye, and Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, with coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen) fought off the confident veterans of Virtus.Pro in the final, shaking off a tough first map loss, and coming alive for the second and third to complete their comeback.
The final match was a result of a week’s worth of high level CS:GO action at both the ELEAGUE studios, and later, the fabulous Fox Theatre in midtown Atlanta. The 1 million dollar prize pool is split among the 16 teams, with Astralis taking home the lion’s share: $500,000.
