Tournament favorites Astral Authority won the SMITE Console League Spring Split Championship over the weekend, defeating underdog squad Elevate 3 – 1 in the Grand Finals.

The win was the first for many of the Astral Authority team members, and Eric “Brochacho” Saavedra became the first support player to win the MVP trophy.

Next for console SMITE is the SCL Relegation tournament for the Summer Split, which will be May 6th and 7th.  Teams will definitely want to make it into the SCL for the summer as those teams will be going to DreamHack in Valencia, Spain in July.

PC SMITE has a major tournament coming up in the SMITE Masters (April 27th-30th).  Ten of the world’s top teams will compete for $120,000 in prizes.

Now there’s a new way to separate the popular people from the rest of us: the Twitch Verification Badge!

Twitch Partners can choose to enable their Verification check mark beside their name across all Twitch chats.  The check mark can be a pretty effective channel advertising tool, as most of us have been conditioned to perk up and pay attention to verified accounts of celebrities, politicians, and non-famous-but-well-connected people on other social sites.

The V-badge is one of many new rollouts coming to the games broadcasting platform.

Check out how you can support your favorite non-partnered streamers, for free, through Twitch.
