Esports promotion reaches new levels with a battle on the high seas
Breakaway, a new arena sports game is taking esports out to sea by hosting a match on a Royal Dutch naval battleship.
Players from esports organizations Echo Fox and Rogue will be playing the 4v4 battle arena game in a show match. The game is a combination of a traditional sport involving a ball (like football or rugby) but the players have weapons and obstacles to face as they run the ball into the other team’s endzone.
Breakaway is in Alpha, and according to publisher Amazon Game Studios, the game was developed specifically with esports competition in mind.
The exhibition match will happen on Monday, June 26th at 12pm PST. It will be broadcast on Red Bull’s Esports Twitch channel.
